Online Courses Require Higher Levels of Thinking from Students

I posted before, Your Participation in Online Course Discussions is Mandatory

I have found an example of a Rubric for Online Discussion Board Participation. This rubric shows why online courses are not so easy and require higher levels of thinking and discussion from students.

  1. I totally agree. I found online courses MUCH harder than face-to-face classes. There was much work required and not much wiggle room. You either did the work – – or not.

I had a huge feeling of satisfaction, though, when the work was done, tallied, and graded. All that work was worth it.

  2. I like the rubric too. πŸ™‚

  3. Elizabeth, the rubric article shows to students the importance and difficulty of discussions in online learning courses and how their participation and contribution might be graded.

  4. One of the online courses I took in Education was graded much like the rubric you posted. It was required to always attend each session. We had many online discussions and were graded on how much we contributed to them. We also had many critique assignments we did online.

  5. I completely agree on that online course require higher level of thinking from students

    Awesome Post !
